Paths Taken by Those Who've Gone Global — Which One Is Right for You?
Based on my own observations and conversations with fellow builders in the community:
-
Gē Fēi's new-keyword/new-site SEO play — the webmaster approach Spot emerging keyword trends, spin up sites fast, and drive traffic through SEO.
-
Liu Xiaopai's approach of mining domestic user needs to build overseas products This one is prone to crowding, since most needs that exist in China already have plenty of people chasing them abroad too.
-
Indie hackers digging into niche overseas demand The ceiling here is pretty solid, but it requires a real understanding of international markets and the ability to build overseas distribution channels.
-
Chuī Gē and Bān Zǒng's traffic-through-personal-brand play Build an audience through a personal brand and content, then convert that attention into product revenue.
Every one of these paths has been proven out by someone. The key is finding the one that matches your background and strengths. If you're technically strong, the Indie Hacker route makes sense. If you're a natural content creator, the personal brand play is worth considering. And if you have a sharp nose for SEO opportunities, the webmaster route is your lane.
