Indie Seller Weekly #3: Guardrails for Agents, Selling the Confidence to Let Go

Every week I count the websites that just put up a checkout link on one of 8 payment platforms (Stripe, Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, Polar, Creem, Dodo, Paddle, and starting this week Waffo), to see what people are selling, what is taking off, and which needs nobody is serving yet.
This week in numbers
- The link graph picked up 5,188 new sellers this week: 908 sell software and 613 sell AI products. No new Waffo sellers have been indexed yet.
- Monthly numbers are steadier: the first 25 days of October brought 17.6K new sellers, against 11K for all of September. Software was about 18% of new sellers in both months, and six in ten of those are AI products; neither share has moved.
- The newer payment platforms are clearly ahead of their September totals: Polar 519 (September 263, nearly double), Lemon Squeezy 766 (431), Dodo 168 (107), Creem 77 (44).
Single-week numbers swing a lot: the link graph indexes new links in batches, and we have seen anywhere from 1,100 to 6,500 a week. Look at monthly numbers for trends.
5 new products worth a look
- Saddle (saddle.to, paid via Polar): a WordPress plugin that lets Claude, Codex and Cursor change a live site over MCP: write pages, fill in SEO titles, update plugins, bulk-edit WooCommerce prices. Read-only by default, deletions and big changes wait for your approval, and every change can be undone in one step. Billed yearly by number of sites, from $60/year for 5.
- Prompt Deck (prompt-deck.arunbrahma.com, paid via Polar): a Mac app that pulls the local conversation history of 11 coding agents, including Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, into one searchable list. You can see a subagent's full run and edit memory files like CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md in one place. Free to use, Pro $29.99/year.
- RefCheckr (refcheckr.pharmatools.ai, paid via Lemon Squeezy): for medical writers. Upload the reference PDFs and it checks every claim in the draft against them, and it can also check the UK pharma promotion code (ABPI). A very narrow audience with a very concrete pain. Pro £9/month.
- Foxtation (foxtation.khaisa.studio, paid via Polar): hold the right Option key on a Mac and talk, and half a second later the text appears in any app. 23 languages, and two can be mixed in one sentence. The free version runs Whisper fully locally and is open source; paid Pro strips filler words and fixes slips.
- Rebel Audio (rebelaudio.ai): an all-in-one podcast tool. Edit audio by deleting text, auto-cut clips, write show notes, dub into other languages, then publish to RSS, YouTube and the podcast platforms. Priced by hours of audio and video imported per month: 1 hour free, paid from $29/month.
Playbook of the week: guardrails for agents
Last week's new software was built around coding agents. This week a narrower direction showed up in that group: keeping agents in check. About a dozen of this week's new software sellers sell exactly that:
- Wait for a yes before acting: when an agent wants to delete something, change prices or bulk-edit pages, it stops and only proceeds once you approve, and it can be undone.
- Keep a record: log every agent call, response and error, searchable and exportable, so you can trace what happened when something breaks.
- Screen things at the door: strip personal data before it goes to a model; scan a skill for dangerous instructions before installing it; or hire someone to attack your own agent and see how its tool calls and permissions can be abused.
The buyers here are easy to name: teams that already let agents touch live systems and real data. These products sell the confidence to let go, which is an easier value story than yet another agent workspace. The risk is the same as last week: agent platforms will build approvals and logs in themselves, so it is best to tie the product to a specific setting (WordPress, an e-commerce back office).
Payment platform news
- Dodo Payments: the October 24 newsletter lists new features: native iOS and Android data widgets (revenue, MRR, payment success rate and more); a content moderation API that returns allow, flag or reject for text and images; optional Ethoca alerts that trigger automatic refunds to head off chargebacks; right-to-left checkout pages for Arabic and Hebrew; and an indication in the API and webhooks of who cancelled a subscription. - Polar, Lemon Squeezy: no new posts on their official blogs this week.
