Wise Account Address Verification for UK Companies: Your Proof of Address Must Include the Company Name
The Problem
The Wise account for my UK company triggered an address verification request.
The catch: the proof of address document had to include the UK company's registered name — and that's where things got tricky.
My Solution
Today I uploaded a China Merchants Bank (CMB) credit card statement. Let's see how it goes.
What I've Learned
Wise's address verification is part of its KYC (Know Your Customer) process. For UK company accounts, any document you submit must:
- Include the company's registered name
- Show the registered address
- Be recent (typically within the last 3 months)
Commonly accepted documents include:
- Bank statements
- Utility bills
- Tax documents
If you're running into the same issue, try using a statement from a domestic Chinese bank — just make sure the company's information appears on it.
FAQ
What documents does Wise require for address verification?
The document must include your UK company's registered name, show the registered address, and be dated within the past 3 months. Bank statements, utility bills, and tax documents are all commonly accepted.
How do I pass Wise address verification if I don't have any UK-based bills?
Try using a credit card statement from a domestic Chinese bank (such as China Merchants Bank). As long as your company's information appears on the document, it's worth uploading and seeing if it works.
Why does Wise require address verification?
It's part of the KYC (Know Your Customer) compliance process. UK company accounts are especially likely to trigger it, as Wise needs to confirm that the company's registered address is legitimate.
